Proactive Air Management in CT Power Injections: A Comprehensive Approach to Reducing Air Embolization

چکیده

Objective: Venous air embolism as a complication of contrast media administration from power injection systems in CT is found to occur 7%-55% patients, impacting patient safety, diagnostic image quality, workflow efficiency, and radiographer satisfaction. This study reviews the challenges associated with reactive management approaches employed on contemporary systems, proposes novel approach using proactive methods, compares impact injected volumes under simulated clinical use. Methods: Injected three were measured use via custom trap fixture. Two approaches, while new system implemented proposed approach. Results: The significantly less (average 0.005 mL ± 0.006 maximum 0.017 mL) when compared two (averages 0.130 0.082 0.106 0.094 maximums 0.259 0.311 mL, respectively) (p <; 0.05). images taken static dynamic 0.1 bubbles inside vascular phantom, both which clearly visible. Additionally, bubble was shown introduce artifacts similar those observed clinically. Conclusion: Comparison show that tested employing approaches. Significance: results indicate could reduce prevalence observable, potentially artifact-inducing, venous contrast-enhanced procedures.

Safety of 1000 CT-guided steroid injections with air used to localize the epidural space.

Historically, ESIs were performed without any imaging guidance, resulting in erroneous placement in up to 30% of injections. Fluoroscopic imaging is now used to guide most procedures. Recently, several reports have described the use of CT to guide ESIs instead of fluoroscopy. CT provides the ability to use air as contrast to localize the epidural space. This retrospective review will discuss fi...

A New Approach to Provide High Water Permeable Polyethersulfone based Nanofiltration Membrane by Air Plasma Treatment

In this study, polyethersulfone based nanofiltration membranes were modified by air plasma generated through dielectric barrier discharge to increase the membrane hydrophilicity aiming to improve the separation and antifouling characteristics. The effect of plasma time on the physico-chemical and separation properties of membrane was investigated. The PES nanofiltration membranes were fabricate...
